Silicone breast implants are back in use at Ohio Breast Augmentation!
An exciting development in January 2007 was the return of the silicone gel-filled implants, with a full clearance from the FDA as being safe. This decision was based upon more than a decade of research and a great number of careful studies performed by major institutions and government agencies. These studies finally showed that there is no evidence that silicone causes any harmful effects to a woman's health. One characteristic of silicone implants is seen by some women as an advantage (though by others as a drawback): when silicone gel implants fail, there is no apparent change in size or shape - that is, implant failure is not obvious to the patient or those around her. (Special tests such as MRI or ultrasound are needed for diagnosing failure of a siicone gel implant.) After many years of being under a cloud of questions originally thought up by groups philosophically opposed to breast implants, the silicone gel implants are now better than ever, and are fully available to Dr Dowden's patients 22 years of age and older! The saline-filled implants are available to those 18 and over.
