The transumbilical breast augmentation.
In the transumbilical breast augmentation ('TUBA') (also called the 'scarless breast augmentation') the saline implants are inserted through a tiny incision inside the upper edge of the navel. Since 1992, Dr Dowden has been performing the transumbilical breast augmentation with an extremely high success rate, and a remarkably low complication rate, by now for more than 1300 women. (Watch the video on YouTube) The recovery is very rapid, the placement and positioning of the implants are very precise, and the resulting scar is usually hidden. The transumbilical breast augmentation has not yet been submitted to the FDA for study, so the method is years away from FDA approval. Therefore the manufacturers are required by the FDA to not recommend the transumbilical breast augmentation, but the warranties are still completely valid after augmentation done this way. When the time comes for implant replacement years later, that can also be performed through the same tiny navel scar.
